EmVenio leadership and staff gathered in late September for a ribbon-cutting and open house at one of our first clinical trial research centers within the Prime Healthcare hospital system. This location is inside the Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale, Georgia. Also joining us were our colleagues at PCM Trials, HealthWizz, and several of the hospital’s doctors and staff members, who toured the space and learned how this center will serve as another health care resource for their patients.
One of the main reasons for establishing this partnership was so our researchers could conduct high-quality trials within Prime’s hospital system and provide their patients with improved access to clinical research. This research center – along with all other EmVenio sites – are strategically selected by analyzing social determinants of health and area-populations. This location ensures underrepresented people in the surrounding area have more inclusive access to clinical trials and maintains the most accurate representation of patients as new, lifesaving treatments are developed.
Additionally, being on a hospital’s campus opens up more possibilities for patient recruitment and enrollment. Our partnership with HealthWizz allows us to more accurately anticipate how many patients at the hospital will qualify for a study before it takes place, ensuring there is a significant pool of people to recruit. It also allows us to easily refer patients to the hospital for tests outside of the site’s capabilities – like CT scans or MRIs. With easy access between our research site and the hospital, participants are more likely to stay enrolled in a trial.
We have also teamed with Prime to open a research center at the Dallas Medical Center, which is currently open for pre-study visits and tours upon request. Later this year, we also plan to open research sites in Prime hospitals in Kansas City, Kansas, and Garden City, Michigan, outside Detroit.
