At EmVenio, we believe community intervention is the first step to creating inclusivity and trust in clinical research. This month, we had the privilege of meeting community members of the Greater Atlanta area at “Reflections Atlanta: Illuminating Diversity in Medicine Through Art.” This event in the outskirts of Downtown Atlanta featured interactive art installations, allowing attendees to explore how personal stories can shape the future of medicine and discover how art can highlight the importance of diverse clinical trials.
EmVenio brought one of our mobile research centers to the event, and our Atlanta-based research team engaged with sponsors and patients and hosted tours of the unit to showcase how our work directly impacts the communities we serve. The team also provided free health screenings to attendees and even enrolled a patient in an upcoming study! The day was a great opportunity to help attendees rethink and better understand the benefits of clinical research, inform them about the importance of representation in research and show how everyone has a role in creating better health outcomes by working together.
We commend the organizers of Reflections Atlanta and the team at Sanofi for coordinating a successful, community-centric event. We’re grateful to be a part of it in an effort to bring clinical research education to the forefront.
